HISTORY, AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHOOL

The Convent of Jesus and Mary Girls' High School, Vadodara, established in 1996 by the Provincial Society of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, a Christian minority institution, aims primarily at the education of the Catholic community and the preservation of Catholic faith and practices.

Preference in the admission to the school will be given to Catholic children. Admission will, however, be open to children of other communities without distinction of caste or creed.

With a view of preserving our Catholic faith, classes in religion will be conducted and it will be obligatory for Catholic children to attend these classes.

The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on the love of God and the service of man, as modelled on the person of Jesus Christ.

We direct our service of education to the young and the underprivileged. We accept responsibility for the development of the child by:

• Preparing her to live confidently in a rapidly changing world, toinvolve herself in the social problems of our times and to be aneffective agent in the transformation of society.

• Helping her grasp basic human values, to assimilate these in herbehaviour and to be ever open to the spiritual.

• Unfolding and activating her unique potential, equipping her with skills to earn her livelihood, stimulating a creative ability so that she will have an impact on her home, her neighbourhood and her country.

• Awakening in her a social consciousness and a spirit of availability and ready service at all times and in every sphere of life.
